New Insurance Provider
For All Members and Surviving Spouses in the USW 1005 ELHT Retiree Benefit Trust:
Effective March 1, 2025, a new benefit service provider called ClaimSecure will be replacing Greenshield. Please be assured there will be no change in the level of benefits you will receive with ClaimSecure. This statement is to inform you of the Trustees’ decision to change to ClaimSecure. Please note that this change of insurance provider was decided before the recent announcement of the sale of Stelco to Cleveland Cliffs.
We will be mailing out new benefit cards in the next few weeks, which will become effective March 1, 2025. Your Greenshield card will not work after this date. All claims submitted after February 28, 2025, should be forwarded to ClaimSecure. You should also inform your pharmacist, dentist and other health care providers of this change.
You will also receive a letter in the next few weeks that will include all instructions for claims submission. This will include electronic claims submissions along with how to find all your personal claims information on the ClaimSecure App.

Retiree Benefits – $100 deductible
As of January 1, 2020, pensioners under the age of 65 will no longer be responsible for $100 deductible. Read this document from the Board of Trustees to find out more.
Attention USW Local 1005 Retirees
As of August 1, 2019 USW, Local 1005 Pensioners 65 years of age or older will no longer have to pay the $100.00 ODB (Ontario Drug Benefit) Deductible. Green Shield will cover the $100.00 going forward.
USW 1005 Pensioners will still be responsible for any ODB co-pay once the $100.00 is satisfied.
January 1, 2020, Pensioners under 65 will no longer have to pay the first $100.00 but will be responsible for any Pharmacy dispensing fees over $5.00.
